Located south of both Farragut and Knoxville, Maryville is the county seat of Blount County. Often regarded as an alternative to the Knoxville lifestyle, this city offers the perfect suburban atmosphere for families. While known for its suburban feeling, Maryville artfully combines the past and present. There are 35 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, plus Maryville’s College Historic District located in the downtown area. 

Maryville’s downtown is incredibly charming, with many recognizable historic buildings and landmarks, including the Blount County Courthouse. It’s easy to pop downtown and explore the many shops, restaurants, and green spaces. Greenbelt Lake is surrounded by the Bicentennial Greenbelt Park, which is a charming area with footpaths, bridges, and benches. In this area, you’ll also find the Blount County Public Library. 

The campus for Maryville College is conveniently located downtown. It is instantly recognizable for its gorgeous brick buildings and beautiful grounds. The campus is home to the Clayton Center for the Arts, a stadium, sports fields, and more. The Blount County Historical Museum is located down the street from the college.

For more shopping and dining options, the Foothill Mall is the city’s largest shopping center. In this region, you’ll find a fitness center, a movie theater, second hand stores, fast food restaurants, and so much more.

The city is also known for its parks and recreation. Other than the Greenbelt, Everett Recreation Center & Athletic Complex and, just down the street, Everett Park have sports fields, seating, and a playground. John Sevier Park is another community favorite, and features pickleball and tennis courts, a playground, and an outdoor pool. Sandy Springs Park and Pearson Springs Park are two other large Maryville parks.

Just outside of the city, you’ll find even more opportunities, including a drive-in movie theater, golf course, and (of course) Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
